The Gulf Crisis & The New World Order because h e who does not study medicine for the service and betterment of his community, his profession will be devoid of the blessings of God. If, before adopting a career in politics you were dreaming of becoming a politician like the one who was formerly a menial office employee, a simple police officer, or a petty officer of the government who resigned and entered politics and thereby became a multi-millionaire and a powerful person and you dream to be like him and become powerful, then remember that the very day you took this decision, that was the day when you strangulated the institution of politics. If you ever became the leader of a country the following Arabic verse will fit you: r. ,. ;J::J. , "="'J>-i-1'e1�'\;, c,:-,U4,JJJ,'��""=""" "When ravens become the leaders of a community, they certainly lead them to destruction. " Therefore, reform your motives. Decide that by-gones are by gones. Discharge the obligations of leadership just on the same lines on which the Holy Prophet of Islam discharged his obligations when he was given the leadership of the world. That is the only way to render obligations as a leader. Apart from that there is no other way. Let me remind you of the last prayer of Hazrat Umar when he was terminally ill, and death stared him in the face and he was very restless. At that time, he prayed, "0 God, if there are any good deeds I may have done, let them go unrewarded. I do not request any recompense for them. But my humble request is that kindly overlook my faults and shortcomings. I find no strength to answer for my shortcomings. " Today, this is the true spirit of Islamic politics which is required of Muslims and non Muslims. The solution of all the problems of today is the revival of this spirit in politics. This will bring back to life a dying hwnanity. If this spirit survives, wars will be doomed. But if this spirit is allowed to die, fire of wars is sure to get rekindled, and then there will be no power on earth to extinguish them. 303
