The Gulf Crisis & The New World Order HORRENDOUS CRUELTIES INFLICTED ON PALESTINIANS Some observers who had analyi. ed the situation state that Israel only intends to decimate the Palestinians but also to totally strip them of their dignity, humanity and self respect. Dr. Nahun Goldman, the founder of Zionism and President of World Zionist Organisation, as well as the Head of the World Jewish Congress for many years, writes' "The apparent aim is to liquidate the Palestinian people. " The Israelis also indulge in character assassination of the Palestinians by slandering them and to this aspect they attach great importance. A Western observer has written that the Israelis use abusive language for the Palestinians and their leaders, so much so, that when a Palestinian is mentioned, the name is always prefixed with a scurrilous epithet, a so and so terrorist, an animal or bastard. . . Referring to the presence of Y assar Arafat in Beirut, they say 9 'the man who sits in Hitler's bunker'. At one stage the Israelis said that the reason they hated the Palestinians was because they refused to accept the existence of the State of Israel and threatened to drown them in the sea. Y assar Arafat tried unsuccessfully to alley Israel's expressed, though unfounded fears, and at the United Nations he openly and officially declared, on behalf of all Palestinians, that the PLO accepted and recognised the right of the State of Israel and its people to freely exist. In reply, Israel announced 10 : "The only useful thing the PLO could do, s aid the spokesman of Israeli Foreign Ministry, was to dis appear. Palestinians no longer existed and therefore there was no point in having a liberation movement" Israel has perpetrated great cruelties on the poor Palestinians, has heaped scorn, victimised and ridiculed them. It has taken all Palestinian land and rendered them stateless. It oppresses and inflicts cruel punishments on them each day and night.
