The G11lf Crisis & The New World Order unrest in the Punjab. So India can easily be prompted for developing such a situation. Or suspension of defence and economic aid from the Western powers can be used to render Pakistan weak and defenceless against India. But Syria is in real danger and may likely be the next victim of their designs. This country has recently emerged as a military power. It would be a colossal misconception, indeed a folly, on the part of Syria if it thinks that it would be spared because of its alignment with the Western powers in the current war against Iraq. As long as Israel stands as a power at its borders, Syria cannot be secure. Then Iran also faces a similar danger, and so does Turkey. As to how this dream can be realized in the case of these two countries I can very well visualize. First, a rift that already exists between the two countries can be further aggravated. This can subsequently be fanned until it develops into a full scale war. The example of Iraq is a case in point. Iraq was strengthened through covert support of the U. S. and its allies, and then incited by them to attack Iran. The Arab as well as the European allies of the U. S. had been covertly supporting Iraq by selling war equipment and weapons of mass destruction. The dream of President Bush should be interpreted in the light of these events. As this dream progresses and unfolds itself, the hideous background of this "Dream of Peace" would help us become increasingly aware of its line of advance. The methodology employed so far by these powers for the accomplishment of their designs is clear. lo the first place, they inflate the military strength of a Muslim country, and then by creating discord with its Muslim neighbour, incite it to belligerence. Both the nations are then given an ample supply of weapons. This is how they are destroying Muslim states, piecemeal. lo fact it is a dream of death and destruction of the Muslim countries, and a scheme of promoting the interest of Israel, which President Bush wrongly dubs as a "Plan of peace". HANDS STAINED WITH THE BLOOD OF THE OPPRESSED This takes my mind to a Shakespearean play called "Macbeth". Lady Macbeth instigated her husband to murder the king while he was asleep. He carried out the murder, but it created a psychological reaction in lady Macbeth. She perceived herself to be the real 231
