The Gulf Crisis & The New World Order towards Islam because they ascribe all their foolhardy ventures to Islam, and thereby cause great difficulties, in the whole world, for those who are inspired by the true love of Islam. On the other hand the Western nations are continuing in their transgression : they can treat the rest of the world the way they want; they can exercise their dominion wherever they please; they can eliminate any people they want and obliterate the citizens of whichever country they want. But all this is carried out under the cover of diplomatic language and euphemisms. And on the other hand, those who are virtually powerless to act out their wishes, they resort to absurd boasts and not only earn humiliation for themselves but, in so doing, attempt to besmirch the pretty face of Islam! So a corollary of my advice to the Muslim world is that you should come to your senses, and act wisely. First learn the art of combat from the nations you wish to antagonize. Learn to speak the language that these nations employ against you or others. Anyway, this was just a tangential remark. STRANGE AND SHAKY STANDPOINT OF MUSLIM COUNTRIES Now I come to a third issue. I have so far re-iterated the positions taken by Iraq and the Western nations respectively. Other Muslim countries too have adopted a standpoint. Their majority has supported this view of Saudi Arabia that it is essential for a large number of Muslim countries to join hands in the collective attempt to demolish Iraq. Furthermore, it is being propagated that, today the Muslims are not faced by the issue of Kuwait alone; the issue extends to the need lo provide a blanket of security to the Holy cities of Mecca and Medina and the Holy land of Hijaz. It is the sanctity of these cities where the Holy Prophet of Islam once breathed and the soil that he walked upon - these are in need of protection. Muslim sentiments are wilfully aroused by giving this matter a sanctimonious colouring. Pakistan has repeatedly made announcements of this sort that it is sending two thousand soldiers to protect the Holy Land; or that three thousand or five thousand troops have been despatched to this effect - as if they are undertaking a great sacrifice for the sake of the Holy Land. But let us see what is, in fact, the history of this Holy Land itself? and let us see what has been the true character of those who are now 143
