S u rah ash-Shams, Chapter 91 454 acme and apex of the whole creation--- and endowing him with great natural potentialities and qualities, God did not leave him alone. He implanted in his nature a feeling or sense of what is good or bad. Or the verse may mean that God reveals to man that he could achieve spiritual perfection by eschewing what is bad and wrong and adopting what is right and good because it is through Divine revelation that man could achieve it. ô ‰ s % y x n = ø ù r & t Β $ y γ 8 ©. y — ∩∪ [91:10] Surely, he prospers who augments it, ô ‰ s % u ρ z >% s { t Β $ y γ 9 ¢ ™ y Š ∩∪ [91:11] And he who corrupts it is ruined. ô M t / ¤ ‹ x. ß Š θ ß ϑ r O ! $ y γ 1 u θ ø ó s Ü Î / ∩∪ [91:12] The tribe of Tham u d denied the truth because of their rebelliousness. Commentary In this and the next four verses is cited the example of the tribe of Tham u d who defied Divine guidance and opposed their Prophet working out thereby their own ruin.
