421 S u rah at-Tak a thur, Chapter 102 Importance of S u rah At-Tak a thur, Chapter 102 Introduction: • 1 The Holy Prophet sa often used to recite the S u rah; he is reported to have said that the S u rah was equal in weight and worth to a thousand verses (Bay a n, Baihaq i & Dailam i ). The phrase ‘equal to thousand verses’, means that this S u rah has a huge importance in terms of its message. • The S u rah deals with a very common and deadly spiritual disease, viz. , vying with one another in amassing worldly goods and taking pride in their abundance. This S u rah deals with the factors which engender in man an inclination to, or a liking for, disbelief and which divert his attention away from God and Truth. • Affluence can make a society but at times affluence can be the cause of decline of nations as well.
