205 Young Women’s Enthusiasm to Serve the Faith Excerpt from Friday Sermon Delivered by Hazrat Mirza Bashir - ud - D in Mahmud Ahmad, Khalifat - ul - Masih II ra Rabwah March 9, 1956 “… I would like to draw the attention of those ladies who are present in the m osque right now that they should instill in the minds of children from a very young age that they should serve their faith when they grow up. As a result , when they grow up, they will be mindful of serv ing their faith. A while ago , a young female student visited our home and gave me a note saying, ‘ I w ish to dedicate my life as a waqf. ’ I told her , ‘ Lady , ladies c an not dedicate their li ves as waqf - e - zindag i [ lifelong devot ion to religious service in the Jama'at ] b ecause a devotee has to live away from home and sometimes has to go abroad. Girls cannot travel abroad alone. H owever , if you w ish to dedicate your life , then marry a young man who is a waq i f - e - zindagi [life devotee]. ’ [ Upon hearing this] she quietly went away. When a classmate of my wife came to know of this, she said, ‘ I had already made up my mind to dedicate my life for the faith, however she beat me to it. ’ Then God Almighty made it happen that she married a young, foreign wa q i f - e - z indag i man. So , you see how good intentions b ear fruit. The other day , another girl came to me crying and saying, ‘ I w ish to marry a w aq i f - e - z indagi , however my father is getting in the way, and he does not intend to marry me to a w aq i f - e - z indagi. ’ I was stunned by the level of dedication instilled within her. I asked Maulawi Abul Ata to try to convince her father. At last, after a few days, she came to me again and said that her father has agreed to marry her to a w aq i f - e - z indagi. Thereafter, she married. After the marriage she came to me again crying, saying that her father told her, ‘ If you leave the country with your husband , I will never look upon your face again. ’ I told her , ‘ I am not well. Y our crying is c aus ing my heart to be anxious , therefore do something
