206. Essence of Islam-V good as won the case! When this fact was brought to the notice of the judge, he at once ordered the index to be produced and, upon consulting it, immediately arrived at the truth and passed a decree against Imamud-Din with costs. Had that document not been produced before the competent authority, what choice would he have but to dismiss the suit, and to leave us to suffer at the hands of our malicious enemies? These are the ways of Allāh! He does whatever He wills. [Haqiqat-ul-Waḥi, Rūḥānī Khazā'in, vol. 22, pp. 278-284]. In my book Anjām-e-Ātham, I invited many opposing. Maulavis to a mubāhala [prayer-duel] by name, and wrote on page 66 of the book that should anyone of them enter into mubahala with me, I would pray that some of them may become blind, while others may be stricken with paralysis, or go mad, or die of snakebite, or meet an untimely death, or be dishonoured, or suffer financial loss. Although all the opposing Maulavis were not courageous enough to accept the challenge of mubahala, they continued to abuse me behind my back, and persisted in their denial. Rashīd Aḥmad of. Gangoha, for instance, not only invoked لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْكَاذِبِينَ on me, but also denounced me as 'Satan' in one of his announcements. Consequently, only twenty out of the fifty-two opposing Maulavīs have survived so far, and they too are victims of one tribulation or another. The rest have all perished.
