Ú ö à »  ô  º : Act. part. of ]ø  »  ø  ø i. e. one who turns away, shuns, leaves. Ú ö à »  ô  ö ç » á ø and Ú ö à »  ô  ô n» à ø are plurals (3:24;6:5).  ø  ô m»  º : Large, much; wide or broad.  ö  ø « ð õ  ø  ô m»  õ : Long prayer, (41:52).  ø  ø Í ø [aor. mø à »  ô Í ö inf. noun Ú ø à »  ô Ê ø è º and  ô  » Ê ø ^ á º ].  ø  ø Ê ø ä ü : He knew or it became acquainted with it; he knew it by means of any of the five senses and also by mental perception; he recognized it. Imam Raghib says that ]ø Ö» Û ø à »  ô Ê ø è ö is perceiving a thing by reflection and by consideration of the effect thereof upon the mind or sense (syn.  ø × ô Û ø ä ü ). According to some authorities ]ø Ö» Û ø à »  ô Ê ø è ö differs from ]ø Ö» à ô ×» Ü ö inasmuch as the former concerns the thing itself which is its object, whereas the latter concerns the states or conditions or qualities thereof. The contrary of the former is ]ø » ô Þ» Ó ø ^  ö and of the latter is ]ø Ö» r ø ã » Ø ö. Ê ø × ø Û $ ^ q ø « ð ø â ö Ü » Ú $ ^  ø  ø Ê ö ç » ] : When that came to them which they knew (2:90). iø à »  ô Í ö Ê ô o » æ ö q ö ç » å ô ] Ö $  ô m» à ø : Thou wilt see in the faces of. . . . (22:72). mø à »  ô Ê ö ç » á ø Þô à » Û ø è ø ] Ö × # ä ô : They recognize the favour of Allah (16:84).  ø  ø Ê ø ä ü also signifies he requited.  ø  ø Í ø ] Ö» Ë ø  ø  ö (inf. noun  ø  » Í º ) : He clipped the mane of the horse  ø  ø Í ø ] » ø Ú »  ø : He was patient in relation to the affair.  ø  ø Í ø : He was or became submissive.  ø  ö Í ø : He was or became sweet or pleasant in his odour.  ø  $ Í ø (transitive).  ø  $ Ê ø ä ö ] » ø Ú »  ø : He acquainted him with the affair ( ]ø  » × ø Û ø ä ü ]ô m $ ^ å ö ).  ø  $ Í ø eø à »  ø ä ü : He acquainted (her) with a part of it (66:4).  ø  $ Í ø also means, rendering a thing fragrant and adorning, decorating or embellishing it.  ø  $ Ê ø ã ø ^ Öø ã ö Ü » : He (God) made it known to them, or made it pleasant for them; He decorated it for them (47:7).  ø  $ Ê ø ä ü eô  ø Þ» fô ä ´ : He branded him with his misdeed. iø à ø ^  ø Ê ö ç » ] : They knew or were acquainted with each other; they vied or competed for superiority in glory, or simply they vied with one another.
