Why did he remain silent until God exposed his secret and his theft was caught? We shall present, below, the postcard of P i r Mehr ‘Al i , which Maulav i Karamud-D i n referred to in both his letters above. In it, you will note that P i r Meher ‘Al i has openly admitted that in fact his book Saif-e-Chishtiy a ’ i is a composition of the late Muhammad H asan Fai d i. Addressing Maulav i Karamud-D i n, the P i r wrote in this postcard: My dear and sincere friend Maulav i Karamud-D i n, I am enjoying good health. Wa‘alaikum wa ra h matullah 24. I want to send you a copy by post or through some reliable man. Let it be known to you that in this book 25 the refutation of commentary on S u rah F a ti h ah (i. e. the book I‘j a zul-Mas ih ) is a compilation of the late [Muhammad H asan] Fai d i and it was included with his permission. This was decided verbally and in writing in Jhelum. Actually, at the request of the late [Muhammad H asan] Fai d i, I sent the necessary material in reply of Shams-e- B a zighah to him in Lahore and had given him permission to publish it under his own name. Unfortunately, his life did not allow him to do so and neither did I find that material in Lahore. Eventually I had to do this work myself. Therefore, I had to get the books from you and to publish the refutation of the commentary with my changes on the basis of the prior permission 24 And peace be on you with Allah’s Mercy.
