i‘j a zul-Ma si h —A Miracle of the Promised Messiah as 3 him in which he spoke of the Promised Messiah as with words of great devotion, and due to this Hadrat Maulav i N u rud-D i n ra was desirous of meeting the P i r. After reading the book, Hadrat Maulav i N u rud-D i n ra , wrote a letter dated February 18, 1900, to P i r Meher ‘Al i raising eleven questions. Shamsul-Hid a yah , the Pir’s book under discussion, had references from the works of Ibn-e-Jar i r and T a r i kh-e-Kab i r Bukh a r i. Hadrat Maulav i N u rud-D i n ra asked whether the P i r had himself studied these books or if he had them in his library. A few days later, the reply was received and it was discovered that the book was actually written by a follower of the P i r, named Maulav i Muhammad Gh a z i. The follower had published the book and ascribed it to the ‘best of the researchers, commander of the sages, our lord, Khw a jah Meher ‘Al i Sh a h’. The P i r wrote: Respected and revered Maul a n a , may peace and blessings of Allah be on you! Maulav i Muhammad Gh a z i has been procuring and studying the above-mentioned books of Tradition and the commentaries on the Holy Quran. Maulav i Muhammad Gh a z i has gone home these days. Maulav i Ghul a m Muhy i ud-d i n and H ak i m Sh a h Naw a z must have expressed their good opinion about me out of their good faith but I am well aware of my worthlessness in this regard. It was Maulav i Muhammad Gh a z i who compiled and published the book, Shamsul-Hid a yah , with his own effort and arrangements.
