78 The commentary of al-Qa si dah COUPLET 16 The despicable and accursed of the earth looted all their belongings ; But their faces gleamed upon receiving the pearls of the Qur’ a n. The opponents of Islam confiscated and destroyed all of the assets which belonged to the companions, both movable and immovable. Nevertheless, the companions were much contented to receive the precious jewel of the Qur’ a n. They considered it priceless and everlasting. It was a treasure none could seize from them, being immune from theft and corruption. Wherever they took this valuable treasure, be it a tribe or nation, they were granted respect and honour, and they received further assurance from their Creator and Master, All a h, in this very world that He was well pleased with them. 5 5 al-M a ’idah , 5:120
