74 The commentary of al-Qa si dah The victory of Mecca is also a clear proof of the truth of the Holy Prophet sa. When the Holy Prophet sa victoriously entered the Ka‘bah with his 10,000 companions, the first task he performed was to demolish the 360 idols that lay there into pieces. He thus opened the door for humanity to rise from the pit of degradation into the heights of dignity, which is its intended destination. May the peace and blessings of All a h be upon the Holy Prophet sa. Not only did the destruction of idols serve as the means by which human beings were elevated to a lofty station, but it helped people destroy their worldly desires, promote their spirituality, and develop bonds between them and All a h. COUPLET 14 They became enlightened in the pitch darkness of night; And Allah saved them from being engulfed in a raging storm of torment. In this couplet the condition at the time of the Holy Prophet sa is described as a very deep darkness. This fact is acknowledged by all historians, whether Muslim or not. During this particular era the whole world was in its dark ages. (The same discussion applies here as under Couplet 1 of this Qa si dah. )
