Prophet Muhammad sa and the people of Medina, That tears are flowing from your eyes have mixed in blood? ( Qa si datul-Burdah li-‘All a mah Al-Bu s airi , p. 1, Qad i m i Kutub Kh a nah, A r a m B a gh, Karachi) This refers to excessive crying. A smaller element always mixes into a larger one. For example, we mix salt into flour. In the same manner, mixing tears into blood points to excessive crying which has exhausted the tears, and if there are a few left, they have mixed into blood. The remaining substance flowing from the eyes is nothing other than blood. If the tears comprise any part of it, they are insignificant as salt is in dough. COUPLET 7 O you who are the sun and moon of light; You have illuminated the day and the night.
