168 The commentary of al-Qa si dah Holy Prophet sa does not negate his prophethood. However, this propaganda of the enemies spread throughout many tribes. The tribes of Bahrain and H a t am became apostates only on the issue that Muhammad sa being a prophet had died. The famous historian Ibni Jar i r A t - T abar i writes about the tribe of J a r u d bin Mu‘all a named ‘Abdul-Qais: They had accepted Islam a very short time before the Holy Prophet sa passed away. His tribesmen said that if Muhammad sa was a prophet he should not have died and they turned away from Islam. When J a r u d learned about this, he gathered all the people together and said to them, ‘O people of ‘Abdul-Qais, I am about to ask you something and I would like you to provide me the answer. ’ They said: ‘Ask whatever you desire. J a r u d asked them if they knew whether Allah sent prophets to the world in previous times. ’ They answered: ‘Yes. ’ Then J a r u d asked them what happened to them. They answered that they all died. Then J a r u d said: ‘Just as the previous prophets left this world, Muhammad sa has died. ’ He declared that day that: ٗ % =)ہٗ Ug Z ?   [ < x  [ ‘There is none worthy of worship except All a h and Muhammad sa is His servant and messenger. ’ His tribesmen said that we also bear witness that there is no god but All a h and certainly Muhammad sa is His messenger and His servant, and we consider you our elder and our leader.
