The commentary of al-Qa si dah 165 SECOND VERSE: ᅒ ᅓ . And Muhammad is only a messenger. Verily, (all) messengers have passed away before him. If then he die or be slain, will you turn back on your heels? ( A l-e-‘Imr a n, 3:145 ) In this verse, All a h has given the news to the Holy Prophet sa that all of the prophets before him, which includes Jesus as , have died. Furthermore, the only two means of passing away of the prophets are described as death or murder. If there were a third means such as ascending to heaven, then it should have been included in this verse. So this verse also proves the death of Jesus because he is one of the prophets who appeared before the Holy Prophet sa in time. CONSENSUS OF THE COMPANIONS: S a hih Bukh a r i 39 mentions that when the Holy Prophet sa died and the news of his passing away started to spread in Medina, the companions were in denial and shock. Hadrat ‘Umar ra threatened to kill anyone who said that the Holy Prophet sa had died.
