(A) The gospels accord Jesus a status not a shade higher than that of prophet and messenger. . A prophet cannot be set up as God beside God. . The following passages support our claim : "And this is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent. " (Jn. 173) "Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me: and whoever receives me, receives not me but Him who sent me. " (Mk. 9: 37). "He answered, I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. " (Mt. 15: 24). "If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in His love. " (Jn. 15: 10). "--but now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth which. I heard from God; this is not what Abraham did. " (Jn. 8 40). "He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives Him who sent me. " (Mt. 10:40). Clearly the Messiah is merely a prophet, not. God Himself. (B) God is comprehended from His attributes. . Granted Jesus is Master of Divine attributes you are justified in taking him for God. On the other hand if the truth is otherwise and Jesus stands destitute of Divine attributes, your claim to his. Divinity is unsound and hostile to truth. .
