( The Jerusalem Bible: Catholic Translation ). This passage known as the Comma Johanneam or ‘The Three Heavenly Witnesses’ is first found in Latin (fourth century), and does not appear in any Greek New Testament manuscript before the sixteenth century. It is probably a marginal gloss which found its wa y into the text. ( The Holy Bible Revised Standard Edition: Catholic Edition ) 1 JOHN 5:7 is now being omitted from modern publications.
