The result of this barbaric behaviour was a horrific war that began between Ban u Z afar and Ban u Najj a r. This next account shows the extent of ignorance of the Arabs. It is quite barbaric and shocking beyond belief ! While sitting around without any provocation, a thought came to the leader of the tribe of Ban u Biy ad ah, ‘Amr bin Nu‘m a n. He said to his tribe, “The place where we live is not worth living. There is a shortage of water, there is a shortage of grass, there is seldom grains for food, there are no fields, the air and water is bad, the whole area is wretched! “In comparison, the lands of Ban u Na di r and Ban u Quraizah are extremely favourable. They are extremely green and lush, the air and water is clean and fresh, water is readily available, and food is readily available for the animals. Why should it be that they live in ease and we put up with hardship? In no way are those people any better than us! So what right do they have over that land?
