B AR Ā H Ī N-E-A H M ADIY YA — PART F IV E 398 peace be upon him, were to be weaned from the teaching of the Torah and made an ummat i , it would need to be explained as to whether bringing the same ‘ I s a —who was the Kh a tamul-Khulaf a ’ [Seal of the Successors] of the Jewish Prophets—as the last Kh a tamul-Khulaf a ’ of the Muhammadan dispensation fulfils the purpose desired by wisdom of Allah Almighty. It should be evident to the wise that when God Almighty willed to establish a dispensation among the Ishmaelites parallel to the dis- pensation of Israelites, he desired to create a similarity and likeness in every way between the two dispensations. It was with this intent that He raised our lord and master, the Holy Prophet, may peace and bless- ings of Allah be upon him, in the likeness of M u s a [Moses], as He says, Meaning that, We sent this Messenger like the one who was sent to Pharaoh. Likewise, it was necessary that at the end of this dispensation its Kh a tamul-Khulaf a ’ should be the like of ‘ I s a and appear fourteen centuries after ‘the like of M u s a ’, in the same way as ‘ I s a , who was the last Khalifah of the Mosaic dispensation, appeared fourteen centuries after M u s a. And then there were the Jews of the Israelite dispensation who did not accept ‘ I s a , and so God promised in His Word that in this Ummah too people of such ‘Jewish’ character would also be born in the Latter Days when the Promised Messiah would appear. Now, when it is obvious that the ‘like of M u s a ’ is not M u s a himself, and the ‘Jewish-natured’ people of the Latter Days are not the actual Jews, so what then is the reason that the ‘ I s a who was to come is the very same who had passed away before? To think in this way is con- trary to the Book of Allah, for God Almighty has decided in S u rah al-F a ti h ah that some people of this Ummah will walk in the footsteps of the Israelite Prophets, and some will walk in the footsteps of the 1.
