THE B Ā B Ī AND BAH Ā ’ Ī RELIGION 25 (Gate of the B a b) was given; Mirz a H usain ‘Al i who later came to he known as Bah a ’ull a h, of whom it is said that when news in regard to the B a b spread, the first to support his claim in Teheran was Bah a ’ull a h 24 ; mullah Muhammad ‘Al i B a rfarush i ; and the daughter of mullah Sa li h Al-Qazwain i , Ummi Salm a by name. On account of her golden hair, in some historical records she is spoken of as "Zarr i n T a j", meaning Golden Crown. Among the B a b i s she later on came to be known as Qurratual ‘Ain. Born about 1231 Hijra, she was married to her cousin mullah Mu h ammad. Under the influence of her uncle, mullah ‘Al i , she had early joined the Shaikhiyya sect. Surprisingly beautiful and intelligent, she is said to have won the title of Qurratul ‘Ain from Sayyid K az im. After the demise of Sayyid K az im she used to teach and instruct his disciples. At this stage she was about 30 years of age. When ‘Al i Muhammad claimed to be the B a b, she joined his followers. Qurratul ‘Ain had children from this marriage, but since her husband and her father-in-law were not well disposed towards the B a b i movement, the relationship became strained, and she gave up living with her husband.
