356 الذكر المحفوظ year nations۔Muhammad, however was born in the 570,۔۔۔۔۔۔at that time a backward area of the world, far from the centers of trade, art, and learning۔The Bedouin tribesmen of arabia had a reputation as fierce warriors۔But their number was small, and plagued by disunity and interecine warfare, they had been no match for the larger armies of the kingdoms in the settled agricultural areas to the north۔However, unified by muhammad for the first time in history, and inspired by thier fervent belief in the one true God, these small Arab armies now embarked upon one of the most astonishing series of conquests in human history۔۔۔۔۔۔۔it may initially seem strange that Muhammad has been ranked higher than Jesus۔There are two principal reasons for that decision۔First, Muhammad played a far more important role in the development of Islam than Jesus did in the development of Christianity۔۔۔۔Muhammad, however, was responsible for both the theology of Islam and its main ethical and moral principles۔In addition, he played the key role in proselytizing the new faith, and establishing the religious practices of Islam۔(Michael H۔Hart:"The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Person in History", New York: Hare Publishing Company, Inc۔, 1987۔p۔33-40) ترجمہ: دُنیا کی عظیم اور محور گن شخصیات کے تذکرہ میں محمد (ﷺ) کا نام سر فہرست رکھنے میں شائد بعض قارئین کو حیرت ہو اور کچھ کو اعتراض بھی۔لیکن میں پورے وثوق سے کہہ سکتا ہوں کہ حضرت محمد (ﷺ) تاریخ عالم میں واحد ہستی ہیں جو مذہبی اور دنیاوی دونوں محاذوں پر یکساں کامیاب و کامران رہے۔انہوں نے نہایت عاجزانہ طور پر اپنی مساعی کا آغاز کیا لیکن نہایت مؤثر سیاسی قائد اور مذہبی پیشوا ثابت ہوئے ، آپ کی وفات پر تیرہ سو سال گذر جانے کے باوجود آپ کی قوت قدسیہ کے اثرات آج بھی پوری آب و تاب کے ساتھ قائم ہیں۔اس کتاب میں شامل افراد کو یہ برتری حاصل ہے کہ وہ دُنیا کی مہذب اور متمدن، اعلی تعلیم یافتہ اور سیاسی طور پر مستحکام اقوام میں پرورش پانے والے افراد تھے۔ان کے برعکس حضرت محمد (ﷺ) جنوبی عرب میں 570ء میں پیدا ہوئے جو کہ اس وقت تجارت ، علوم وفنون کے مراکز سے بہت دور، دنیا کا ایک انتہائی دقیانوسی گوشہ تھا۔
