2 Messiah (on whom be peace) presented to the world under Di- vine guidance, after it had been forgotten and lost sight of in its original form. The Foundation of the Movement and its Present Strength. The Ahmadiyyah Movement is not an old Movement; it is only about thirty-four years old. The Movement was founded in 1890 by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (on whom be peace) under an express Divine command. He claimed to be the Mahdi, whose advent had been foretold by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (on whom be peace and the blessings of God) and the Messiah, whose advent had been foretold in the Bible and in certain Is- lamic books, and the Promised teacher, whose appearance in the last age had been foretold by almost every Prophet. In the re- velations received by him God addressed him in the words;- !"# $%& '(" '(")*% +(,-. /,"0+(,& -, 12 345. 67,& “In thy person are fulfilled the prophecies of the previous Prophets. Thou art clothed in the garments of all the Prophets (i. e. . Thou art invested with their power and spirit) All praise is due to God who has made thee the Messiah ibn-i-Maryam. Nobody can question Him as to why He has done so, but men will be questioned concerning their failure to bow to His decree. Thou art the Master and the Messiah whose time and labour shall not be spent in vain. It will not be well for men to oppose the Prophet who is like the Prophets of the Brahmins. Thou art the Blessed Krishna, the cherisher of Cows, and thy praise is chanted in the Gita. ”
