— Part IV 378 parents. However, when the requirements of this kindness apparently clash with obedience to Allah you may, kindly, reject your parents’ desire to offend Allah. Apart from this, in all wordly matters you must remain obedient and kind to them. Obedience to Allah is the highest degree of justice one can attain and even if the parents quarrel with their children to obey them and call partners with Allah of which they have no knowledge, they may never obey them in this. And we have enjoined on man kindness to his parents; but if they contend with you so that you too may associate partners with Me; of which you have no knowledge whatsoever, then obey them not. Unto Me is your return, and I shall inform you of what you did. (S u rah al-‘Ankab u t; Ch. 29: V. 9) Allah declares, of couse He has strongly admonished people to be extremely kind to their parents.
