253 16 Evidence in Financial Matters As the subject of financial disputes has been previously discussed, we would like to pick up from the point where we left off. In verse 283 of S u rah al-Baqarah, the Holy Quran dictates: O ye who believe! When you are about to borrow money for a definite period commit the transaction to writing and when it is dictated to a scribe it is binding upon the scribe to write with justice. And no scribe should refuse that he should write as God has taught him to write.
