— Part II 202 with one’s state of imperfection. People at this level live in constant danger because with the slightest stumble they will rapidly descend into an abyss of destruction. So one should constantly strive to do justice in one’s worship and to fulfil its elementary requirements. The Promised Messiah as then says: 'Whereas God does not require man to strive beyond the limits of his understanding, so, as long as people observe this He only expects them to thank Him according to what they realise they owe Him. This is the true import of the verse: 21 [Verily Allah enjoins justice. ] Here, the dictates of justice take into view the shortcomings of the worshipper and require God to grant him a handicap for his defects. In the process, he is expected to redress his shortcomings gradually to make him move from a lower to a higher stage. The Promised Messiah as further directs: '…But there is a yet higher stage of man’s cognizance. As we have just mentioned, man’s vision becomes purged of reasons and causes and at this stage he emerges from behind the veils of reason and causes. To him it becomes worthless and dishonest to say, 'I watered my fields well and that is why these healthy crops grew', or, 'My success is solely due to my hard
