xvii Glossary of Terms Part I ‘Abd : slave, servant. ‘Adl: absolute justice. A h sani Taqw i m: The best creative process which results in the creation of well-balanced, straight, accurate, exact and rightly proportioned creatures. ‘Adalaka: Proportioned thee correctly and perfectly balanced. Ajrun Ghairu Mamn u n: an unending reward. Ambatn a : 'We caused to grow'. Asfala S a fil i n: The lowest of the low. ‘Az i z: Mighty with honour, Commanding respect. Dar u d: The Holy Quran (33:57) enjoins upon Muslims to invoke blessings on the Holy Prophet sa and to salute him with the salutation of peace. 'Dar u d' is the name for this act of prayer. Dhikr a : reminder, exhortation. D i ni Qayyim: the right religion. Fuj u r: sinfulness, unrighteousness, viciousness, wickedness. Fa Saww a ka Fa ‘Adalaka: Perfected you and proportioned you to the point of perfect balance, consummated you (in respect of your innate faculties) and made you well balanced in your nature. Ghaf u r: most forgiving. Guru: God, avatar, saint, religious teacher. Here it is used in the sense of saint. H ad i th: sayings and traditions of the Holy Prophet sa. H a dr at : title of respected for eminent religious personages Hu r: companions promised in the hereafter to the righteous believers. I h s a n: to grant someone more than his due; a reward in excess of the labour involved.
