Islam as the Ultimate Goal of Religious Teachings 149 nature and as such the scheme of things remains unchangeable. In that sense, as long as he falls into the category of Homosapien, man will possess the same genetically controlled characteristics his ancient forefathers held. Any religious teachings which take into account this unchangeable universal nature of man, consequently become unchangeable. Hence, these religions, though not changed, were occasionally modified according to the requirements of a given era. Hence, it should be clearly understood that Islam does not monopolise truth to the exclusion of other religions. On the contrary, it explicitly speaks of a central core of Godliness commonly shared by all Divine religions. With the passage of time, the central stem grew in strength and volume, giving birth to many branches which worked as the secondary teaching of that religion. Thus the ratio of secondary teachings to the fundamentals became more voluminous as the religion progressed. The branches and foliage which grew out of this main stem kept changing without altering the basic design. The Quran claims to have brought the religion that covers each of the essential features of human characteristics without sacrificing their fundamental nature. This is termed as D i ni Qayyim (30:31) , meaning 'right religion', and having the connotation of being not only right in itself but also possessing the power of setting others right.
