39 Messiah, peace be on him, Isl ā mi Asool Ki Philosophy (The Philosophy of the Teachings of Isl ā m), which I read and was highly impressed by it. However, my basic attitude towards religion remained the same. A few days later Mr. Mu ṣṭ af ā asked my opinion about the book. “Of course! I am highly impressed,” I exclaimed, “It is a great book. ” I saw a big smile on Mr. Mu ṣṭ af ā ’s face. He asked me if I was willing to perform the Bai‘at and join the A ḥ maddiya Muslim Jam ā ‘at. I did not want Mr. Mu ṣṭ af ā to be unhappy with me only because he was such a nice person. So, without thinking of any consequences and without knowing anything about the A ḥ madiyyah Muslim Jam ā ‘at I agreed to perform the initiation procedure. I accompanied Mr. Mu ṣṭ af ā to the mosque on the following Friday where he introduced me to Maulav ī Mu ḥ ammad ‘Al ī , whom later on I recognized to be the head of the Lahori Jam ā ‘at. Mr. Mu ṣṭ af ā told the Maul ā n ā Ṣāḥ ib that I had come to be initiated into the A ḥ madiyyah Muslim Jam ā ‘at. Maul ā n ā Ṣāḥ ib did not show any emotions. He looked at his secretary and advised him to enter my name in the books. The secretary asked me a few questions and as I answered, he kept entering the information in the book. My life did not change with this initiation except for occasionally accompanying Mr. Mu ṣṭ af ā Mu ḥ ammad ‘ Ī s ā J ā n Kh ā n
