? 126 me and I did eat. ’ She confessed that she only was beguiled, which shows that she did not tell Adam that it was from the forbidden tree that she had given him. Adam did not therefore commit a real sin. St. Paul has expressed a similar view when he said ‘And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. ’ 1 The reason for the expul- sion from the Garden of Eden given in Genesis is ridiculous. It runs thus: ‘And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore, the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden. ’ 2 Can anyone believe that God created man to keep him in ignorance of good and evil? Did He not create him in His own image and after His likeness? 3 This passage clearly indicates that Adam’s expulsion from the garden was due to the fear of God that he might eat of the tree of life and not in that he had sinned. It is, therefore, clear that the doctrine of Redemption, based on the sin of Adam, is also untrue. In the Holy Quran God says: And verily, We had made a covenant with Adam before- hand, but he forgot; and We found in him no determina- tion to disobey. 4 1. 1 Tim. 2:14 2. Gen. 3:22–23 3.
