In Chapters 9 and 22 he says that a great light shone round about him only, but in Chapter 26 he says that the light shone round about him and about those who journeyed with him. 3. In Chapter 9 we read that he only fell to the earth and the oth- ers stood speechless, but in Chapter 26, verse 14, he states that he and all his companions had fallen to the earth. 4. In Chapter 22 he states that upon his asking what he should do, Jesus replied, ‘Arise and go into Damascus, and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do. ’ When he reached Damascus one Ananias came to him and told him what he should do. 5. In Chapter 26, however, he mentions nothing about this. On the contrary, he says that Jesus Christ himself told him of all things which he should have to do. With these contradictions in the vision upon which he based his claim to be an apostle, we are led to doubt its reliability. If we admit that he did see a vision, a mere vision cannot be a sound basis on which to found a claim to apostlehood.
