During this period five sa distinct Caliphates existed among the Muslims, all belonging to the House of. These were: Quraish 1. The Righteous Caliphate 632 - 661 AD 2. The Umayyad Caliphate of Damascus 661 - 750 AD 3. The ‘Abbasid Caliphate of Baghdad 750 - 1258 AD 4. The Umayyad Caliphate of Spain 929 - 1031 AD 5. The Fatimid Caliphate of Egypt 909 - 1171 AD − The fourteenth and last of the Caliphs was dethroned in Fatimid − 1171 AD by Salahuddin the Great, the famous warrior of the Crusades. With the fall of Al-Azid ended the dynasty which was founded by Fatimid − Al-Mahdi some 262 years ago. − 194
