− forgives and brings about reformation, his reward is with Allah. his act − Surely, He loves not the wrongdoers. (42:41) Islam thus combines the best features of both the earlier teachings, − with the vital addition that forgiveness is commended provided it is likely to result in an improvement and the correction of the defaulter, that being the real objective. If not, then punishment is held to be necessary, but not exceeding the degree to which one is wronged. Surely, this guidance is in full conformity with human nature and is as practicable today as when it was revealed fourteen centuries ago. (Distinctive Features of Islam, pp 10-12) − EQUALITY OF MANKIND Muslims believe that the Holy Prophet of Islam was sent as 'a sa − Mercy for all the worlds', and that he brought a final religion for all humanity. One of the fundamental teachings of Islam and one which every − Muslim cultivates in his heart is that of brotherhood and equality of human beings.
