7 THE In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Ever Merciful THE The revered speaker opened with Tasha’hud and Ta’awuz: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, the One, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His Servant and Messenger. I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the rejected. He then recited Surah Fateha: In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Ever Merciful. All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds, Most Gra- cious, Ever Merciful, Master of the Day of Judgment. Thee do we worship, and Thee do we implore for help. Guide us to the straight path, the Path of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy favors, not of those who earned Thy wrath nor of those who went astray. (1:1-7). After that, he opened his speech with the following verses of the Holy Quran: In the creation of the heavens and the earth and in the alternation of the night and the day there are indeed Signs for men of understanding; those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides, and ponder over the creation of the heavens and the earth: 'Our Lord, Thou hast not created all this in vain; Holy art Thou; save us, then from the punishment of the Fire.
