Understanding S al A t 172 acts of worship and financial sacrifices, peace be on you, O prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings, peace be on us, and on the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. After reciting Tashahhud, the invocation of blessings on the Holy Prophet sas called Dur ū d (A ss alātu-‘alan- nabī) and some other prayers are recited silently. ( S al ā t-The Muslim Prayer Book , pp. 48) ِ عَلَى مُحَمَّد ٍ وَّعَلَى آل ِ مُحَمَّد ٍ كَمَـا صَلَّيْت َ عَلَى اِبْرَاهِيْم َ وَعَلَى آل ِّ اَللَّهُم َّ صَل ٌ اِبْرَاهِيْم َ اِنَّك َ حَمِيْد ٌ مَّجِيْد ٌ اَللَّهُم َّ بَـارِك ْ عَلَى مُحَمَّد ٍ وَّعَلَى آل ِ مُحَمَّد ٍ كَمَـا بَـارَكْت َ عَلَى اِبْرَاهِيْم َ وَعَلَى آل ِ اِبْرَاهِيْم َ اِنَّك َ حَمِيْد ٌ مَّجِيْد O Allah, bless Muhammad and his people, as You did bless Ibrāhīm and his people. You are indeed the Praiseworthy, the Glorious. O Allah, prosper Muhammad and his people, as You did prosper Ibrāhīm and his people. You are indeed the Praiseworthy, the Glorious. After Dur ū d, we can observe any of several different prayers that the Holy Prophet sas is narrated to have observed at the end of S al ā t , including 2:202 and 14:41-42 of the Holy Quran.
