Qa‘dah 213 God Almighty, they should pray to be saved from all kinds of calamities which can cause one to experience difficulty and hardship in their life and are in a like- ness to fire. ( Tafs ī r Hadrat Mas ī h Mau’ ū d, vol. 2, pp. 371-372, 2:202) ________ O _________ ِ لَوة َّ رَب ِّ ٱجۡعَلۡنِي مُقِيم َ ٱلص My Lord, make me observe Prayer The words ِ لَوة َّ مُقِيم َ ٱلص and َ لَوة َّ ُقِيمُون َ ٱلص ی َ و mean setting our Salat upright after it has fallen. Explaining this meaning, the Promised Messiah as said, Allah the Exalted states: َ لَوة َّ ُقِيمُون َ ٱلص ی َ و ( al-Baqarah, 2:4). Meaning, he sets upright the Prayer. Here, ‘to set upright’ has been stated. This also alludes to the forced effort that is specific to a righteous per- son. When such a person begins the Prayer, he must ward off countless evil whisperings, due to which his Prayer falls repeatedly as it were, and he must hold it up. When he says Allahu Akbar [Allah is the Greatest] to begin the Prayer, a swarm of evil
