36 36 Islasm ntals eriosP urPsb 26 May 1897 〃 This announcement also carried a threat against my life. 20 August 1897 〃 This was also written at the behest of Muhammad Husain and is full of abusive language. 7 April 1897 〃 On page 4 column 3 it is written that Mirza has died and his corpse has been placed in a museum. 1 Isha’at-us- Sunnah, Muhammad Husain of Batala, from 1891 to 1898 In all these magazines that were published from 1891 to 1898, Maulvi Muhammad Husain has slandered me in every conceivable way, abused me, and even admitted that all the vile announcements by Muhammad Bakhsh Jafar Zatalli were written at his behest and instruction; he also greatly praised Muhammad Bakhsh. Finally, a matter worthy of attention for the officials is that hun - dreds of honourable and upright individuals bear testimony to the purity of my life, as do many respectable officials who belong to my community and are deemed highly trustworthy in the eyes of the government. Furthermore, respectable chiefs and mer - chants can also testify to my virtuous and noble conduct. I do not come from a family which has ever fallen under the suspicion 1. Not only has Muhammad Husain accepted in his Isha’at-us-Sunnah that all this abuse was instigated and taught by himself, but a number of respectable persons are witness to this fact as well that Muhammad Husain would even provide the script of these announcements penned by his own hand. —Author
