21 21 Isl Iamns terliolP Messiah, peace be upon him, so that through peace and kindness I may grant spiritual life to the people. I have not defined the title ‘Promised Messiah’ in this manner only today, rather, I did so in exactly the same way as far back as nineteen years ago in my book Barahin-e-Ahmadiyyah. It is possible that many people might ridicule what I have to say, or denounce me as a fool or one deranged, as such matters are beyond the comprehension of the world. The world cannot understand them, particularly those Muslims who belong to some of the earlier sects and hold dangerous views about such prophe - cies. It is worth bearing in mind that the earlier sects among the Muslims await the arrival of a Mahdi who would be a descendant of Fatimah, the mother of Husayn. They also await a Messiah who will join forces with this Mahdi and wage war against the oppo - nents of Islam. I, however, have insisted that all such notions are vain, false and fabricated. Those who adhere to them are in grave error. The concept of such a Mahdi that has gripped the hearts of Muslims due to ignorance and deception, is fictitious. The truth is that no Mahdi will appear from among the children of Fatimah. All the Hadith that suggest this concept are fabricated, inauthentic, and forged, and were probably produced during the Abbasid dynasty. The only authentic and truthful narration is that a person bearing the name of Jesus, peace be upon him, will be raised, who will nei - ther wage war, nor shed blood. Instead, he will turn the hearts of the people to the truth with modesty, humility, forbearance and reassuring signs. Accordingly, God has informed me with lucid dis - course and clear signs that I am that individual. He has revealed
