1 ِ بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْم 2 ِ رَسُوْلِهِ الْکَرِیْم نَحْمَدُہٗ وَنُصَلِّیْ عَلٰی I, Ghulam Ahmad , son of Mirza Ghulam Murtaza, am a resident of Qadian, District Gurdaspur, Punjab and the leader of a well renowned sect that can be found in many areas of the Punjab. Moreover, the members of my community also reside in many districts of India including Hyderabad, Bombay, and Madras; the Arabian Peninsula, Syria, and Bukhara. Thus, I have thought it prudent to pen this brief treatise so that the senior officials of this benevolent government might come to know of my circum - stances and the views of my community. For I witness that this new sect continues to progress day by day in these countries; many Indian officials, respectable nobles, landlords, and celebrated mer - chants have entered the fold and continue to do so. As a result, deep-rooted animosity and malice has arisen against me amongst ordinary Muslims and their clerics. It is possible that their envy might incite them to make misleading representations to the gov - ernment. Therefore, through this treatise, I intend to convey my 1.
