The person from whom the house had been purchased by the testator applied to Hadrat Khalifatul Masih ra praying that the house might be sold to him at a price less than what it might command in the open market; and this in consideration of the fact that the house formerly belonged to him and he had to give it up for a very small price under the stress of certain difficulties. Hadrat Khalifatul Masih ra granted the prayer and wrote to the Anjuman directing it to sell the house to the applicant at a reduced price. This gave these men an excellent opportunity. They declined to comply with the orders of Hadrat Khalifatul Masih ra , and thought that when members of the Community would come to know that Hadrat Khalifatul Masih ra had resolved to dispose of a property belonging to the Community at a price less than that which was being offered for it in the market they would side with the Anjuman. They discussed and argued the matter with Hadrat Khalifatul Masih ra and suggested that the applicant might purchase the house at a public sale, and that there was no reason why the Anjuman should incur the loss. In vain, did Hadrat Khalifatul Masih ra explain to them that the applicant had sold the house for a small price under stress of difficulties and, therefore, deserved consideration.
