19 However, their response to a question about the divine law is humble and modest because they are conscious of God Almighty. HUMAN BEINGS HAVE NOT INHERITED SIN Further, it is wrong to believe that because human beings inherited sin, they cannot free themselves of it. If sin was indeed inherited, how did Adam as first acquire it? And if he sinned of his own volition, would it not be more appropriate to accept that all other human beings are responsible for their own wrongdoings? If people inherit sin they cannot be held accountable for it. Is an illegitimate child, for example, destined for hell because they were born out of the adultery of their parents? Certainly not, because no fault lies with the child. The responsibility rests with the parents. A person cannot be punished for something bequeathed to them by their parents, and if this were the case, then all human beings would meet with [immediate] salvation as they would not be responsible for any of their sins, rather they would have inherited them. On the other hand, if we were to accept that people do not inherit sin, but commit acts of wrongdoing of their own accord, then no one would be able to achieve salvation as per the teachings of Christianity.
