as 26 And I was a witness over them as long as I remained among them, but since You caused me to die, You have been the Watcher over them; and You are Witness over all things. If You punish them, they are Your servants; and if You forgive them, You surely are the Mighty, the Wise. 1 It is evident from the above verses that Jesus as, when he will be questioned by God on the Day of Judgement, will declare that he did not tell his people to worship anyone but God. The verses also prove that Jesus as had died like any other human being. The Term ‘Son Of God’ The term ‘son of God’ used for Jesus as in the New Testament should not be taken literally; rather, it was used metaphorically to mean someone who is a beloved of God and the one who has a close relationship with Him. In fact, the same title has been used in the Old Testament for earlier Prophets. For example, it is writ- ten that ‘Israel is My son, even My firstborn. ’2 At another place in the Old Testament, it is written that God said about David as, ‘I will make him My firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. ’3 Similarly, God said about Solomon as, ‘He shall be My son, and I will be his Father. ’4 1.
