The fact of the matter is that they were learned people, and were familiar with all aspects of Khatm-e-Nubuwwat and L a Nabiyya ba‘d i. Let us now see what they wrote. Hadrat ‘ A’ ishah S idd i qah’s Interpretation of L a Nabiyya Ba‘d i In this context, I would first present to you a saying of H a d- rat ‘ A’ ishah S idd i qah ra , which is well-known to the schol- ars. Keep in mind that the White Paper asserts that never in the history of Islam has anyone interpreted L a Nabiyya ba‘d i in another manner. However, Hadrat ‘ A’ ishah ra said: Say, he (the Holy Prophet) is Khat a mun-Nabiyy i n, but do not say that there is no Prophet after him. ( Ad-Durrul-Manth u r , vol. 6, p. 618) Hadrat ‘ A’ ishah ra knew that the Holy Prophet sa has used that phrase. But she also understood that his words could be misunderstood. Therefore she made a point to clarify that by saying L a Nabiyya ba‘d i the Holy Prophet sa did not mean that there would be no Prophet after him.
