PRAYERS 133 Who has not taken a son and no one shares His Sovereignty. No one befriends Him considering Him to be helpless. So praise Him in the best possible manner. Prayer in Times of Anguish and for Love of the Qur’ a n Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin Mas‘ u d ra relates that the Holy Prophet sa said that if a person is overwhelmed by grief and sorrow, he should offer this prayer. God will remove his grief and bestow prosperity upon him. He also advised that whosoever hears this prayer should memorise it. ِّْ ْاَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢ َّ اِىن ْ ﻋَﺒ َِّ ﺪُکَ،اﺑۡﻦ ُ ﻋَﺒ ْ ﺪِکَ، اﺑۡﻦ ُ اَﻣَﺘِکَ،ﻧَﺎﺻِ[َىت ِ ﺑِﻴَﺪِکَ،ﻣَﺎض ٍ ىف ْ ﺣُک ﻤُک َ 2َﺪ ُ ْ ل ٌ ىف َِّ ﻗَﻀَﺎء ک َ اَﺳۡﺎَﻟُک َ ﺑِ¤ُﻞ ِّ اِﺳۡﻢ ٍ ﻫُﻮ َ ﻟَک َ ،مسََّﻴ ªِﺑ َ ﺖ ْ َ ﻧَﻔ ْﺴَک ْاَو ْ اَﻧ ﺰَﻟ ﺘªَ ِْ َىف ْ کِﺘَﺎﺑِک ْاَو 2َﻠَّﻤ ﺘªَ ْ ﻣِّﻦ ْاَﺣَﺪًا ْ ﺧَﻠ ْ ﻘِک َ ، اَوِاﺳ َ ﺘَﺎﺛَﺮ ت ﺑªِ ِْ ْىف 2ِﻠ ْ ْ ﻢ ِ اﻟ ْ ﻐَﻴ َْﺐ ِ ﻋِﻨﺪَک َ اَن ْ جت ْ ﻌَﻞ َ اﻟ ْ ﻘُﺮ ْ آ ن َ رَﺑِﻴ ِْ ﻊ َ ﻗَﻠ ْىب َ و َ ﻧُﻮ َ ر ْ ﺑَﺼ ﺮِی ،َ ْوَﺟَﻼَء ِْ ﺣُﺰ َىن ْوَذِﻫَﺎب مهَِّﻰ. 267 O All a h , I am Your servant, progney of Your slave and Your maid servant. My forehead is in Your hands. Your decree prevails in me. Your decision in my case will be final. I beseech You in the name of every one of Your names, Your names which You Yourself have chosen for Yourself, or the attributes which You have revealed in Your Holy Book, or taught it to any of Your creations, or the ones which in Your knowledge of the unseen You prefer for Yourself. I beg You to make the Qur’ a n delight of my eyes and light of my bosom. Make it a means of elimination of my grief and sorrow.
