PRAYERS 84 َْ ْ اَحل ْ ﻤ ْﺪُ ﻟِﻠªِّٰ اﻟَّﺬِی ْ اَﻃ ﻣُﺴ وَ ﺟَﻌَﻠَﻨَﺎ وَ ﺳَﻘَﺎﻧَﺎ َْ ﻌَﻤَﻨَﺎ ﻠِﻤِني. 158 All praise belongs to All a h , who fed us, gave us water to drink and made us from among the Muslims. Hadrat Ab u Ayy u b An sa ri ra relates that the Holy Prophet sa used to say this prayer whenever he ate or drank water: َْ ْ اَحل ْ ﻤ ْﺪُ ﻟِﻠªِّٰ اﻟَّﺬِی اَﻃ ﻌَﻢَ وَ ﺳÌَٰ وَ ﺳَﻮَّﻏªَ وَ ﺟَﻌَﻞَ ﻟªَ َْ خم ﺮَﺟًﺎ. 159 All praise belongs to All a h , who gave us food to eat and water to drink. He made it pass down the throat and created means of its discharge. Hadrat Ab u Um a mah B a hl i ra relates when the cloth on which food was served was folded up after the meal, the Holy Prophet sa used to say this prayer. َْ ْ اَحل ًْ ﻤ ﺪ ُ ﻟِﻠªّٰ ِ کَﺜِري ْ ا ﻃَ[ِّﺒًﺎ َْ ﻣُّﺒَﺎرLًَﺎ ﻓِﻴ ْ ªِ،اَحل ْ ﻤ َﺪ ُ ﻟِﻠªّٰ ِ اﻟَّﺬِی َْ کَﻔَﺎﻧَﺎ و َ آوَاﻧَﺎ ،ﻟَک ْ احل َْ ﻤ 5َري ْ ﺪُ رَﺑَّﻨَﺎ ْﻣَک ْ ®ٍِّ وَّﻻَ ﻣُﻮَدَّعٍ وَّﻻَ ﻣَک ْ ﻔُﻮ ْ ر ٍ وَّﻻَﻣُﺴ ْ ﺘَﻐ ىنً ﻋَﻨ ªُ رَﺑَّﻨَﺎ. 160 All praise belongs to All a h , pure and blessed praise. All a h is worthy of all praise. He is sufficient for us, Who gave us refuge. O All a h , all praise belongs to You, Who is sufficient for us in giving food. We will never stop asking and begging from You. Ungratefulness for Your food does not take place. O Lord, we can never be independent of You. Hadrat Mu‘ a dh bin Anas ra relates that the Holy Prophet sa said that God forgives the sins of whosoever recites this prayer after the meal. َْ ْ اَحل ْ ﻤ ْﺪ ُ ﻟِﻠªّٰ ِ اﻟَّﺬِی ِْ اَﻃ ْﻌَﻤَىن ْ ﻫٰﺬَا اﻟﻄَّﻌَﺎم َ و َ رَزَﻗَِﻴ ﻣِﻦ ِ ªِْ ْ 5َري ِّﺣَﻮ َ ل ٍ ﻣِىن ٍ وَﻻ ﻗُﻮَّة. 161 All praise belongs to All a h , Who gave me this meal and bestowed this sustenance upon me without any effort and hard work on my part.
