PRAYERS 6 Promise and Escaping the Humiliation of the Day of Resurrection Hadrat ‘ A ’ishah ra relates when these verses were revealed the Holy Prophet sa started s a la t and he was crying. Hadrat Bil a l ra asked him the reason for his weeping. He replied that these verses had been revealed to him and added that whosoever recites these verses and does not ponder over them was very unfortunate. The traditions also tell us that the Holy Prophet sa used to recite these verses daily and at night time and told his followers that whosoever recites these verses of Al-e- ‘ I mra n at night will have the reward equal to worshipping all the night. 8 ٰ رَﺑَّﻨَﺎ ِ ﻣَﺎﺧَﻠَﻘْﺖ َ ﻫٰﺬَاﺑَﺎﻃِﻼًﺳُﺒْﺤ ﻨَﻚ َ ﻓَﻘِﻨَﺎ2َﺬَاب َ اﻟﻨَّﺎر. ( Al-e-‘ I mra n 3:192) Our Lord, You have not created this, in vain, no, Holy are You; save us, then, from the punishment of the Fire. َْ ْ رَﺑَّﻨَﺎ إِﻧَّﻨَﺎ مسَِﻌْﻨَﺎ ﻣُﻨَﺎدِﻳًﺎ ﻳُﻨَﺎدِي ﻟِﻺِْمي ٰ ﺎن ِ أَن ْ ا ٰ ﻣِﻨُﻮ ا ﺑِﺮَﺑِّﻜُﻢ ْ ﻓَﺎ ْ ﻣَﻨَّﺎ ﻓَﺎﻏْﻔِﺮْﻟَﻨَﺎذُﻧُﻮ َ رَﺑَّﻨَﺎ َّ ﺑَﻨَﺎو ٰ ﻛَﻔِّﺮْﻋَﻨ ﺎﺳَﻴِّﺎ ﺗِﻨَﺎوَﺗَﻮَﻓَّﻨَﺎﻣَﻊَ اﻷَْﺑْﺮَارِ. ( Al-e-‘ I mra n 3:194) Our Lord, we have heard a Crier calling us unto faith, ‘Believe you in your Lord’, and we have believed. Our Lord, forgive us, therefore our sins and remove from us our evils, and in death join us with the righteous. َ ٰ رَﺑَّﻨَﺎ و ٰ ا ُ ﺗِﻨَﺎﻣَﺎ و2ََﺪْﺗَﻨَﺎ 2َ_ ْرُﺳُﻠِﻚ َ وَﻻ َ ختُْﺰِﻧَﺎﻳَﻮْم َ اﻟْﻘِﻴَﺎﻣَﺔِإِﻧَّﻚ َ ﻻَختُْﻠِﻒ املِْﻴ ﻌَﺎدَ. ( Al-e-‘ Imr a n 3:195) Our Lord, give us what You have promised us through Your Messengers and disgrace us not on the Day of Resurrection. Surely, You break not Your promise.
