PRAYERS 146 O All a h , do not deprive the progeny of Muhammad sa of “ q u t ” (That much sustenance which would keep them alive). Prayers for the Caliphs and Rulers of Muslims Hadrat ‘Al i ra relates this prayer of the Holy Prophet sa for the caliphs who were to succeed him: ۡ ْ اَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢ َّ ار ْﺣَﻢ ْ ﺧُﻠَﻔَﺎﺋِﻰ َ اﻟَّﺬِﻳ ْ ﻦ َ ﻳَﺎﺗُﻮ ْن َ ﻣِﻦ ْ ﺑَﻌ ۡ ﺪِی َ ﻳَﺮ ْ وُو ْ ن َ اَﺣَﺎدِﻳ ْﺜِﻰ َ وَﺳَُّىتِ وَﻳُﻌَﻠِّﻤُﻮ اﻟﻨَّﺎس ََﺎ. 295 O All a h , have mercy on the caliphs who would succeed me. They shall narrate my traditions and ' sunnah ' and instruct people in those matters. Hadrat ‘ A ’ishah ra relates this prayer of the Holy Prophet sa : ْ ْاَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢ َّ ﻣَﻦ ْوَّىل َِ ﻣِﻦ ْ اَﻣ ً ﺮ ِ اُﻣَّىت ِ ﺷَﻴ ْﺄ ْ ﻓَﺸَﻖ َّ 2َﻠَﻴ ْﻬِﻢ ْ ﻓَﺎﺷ ْﻘُﻖ 2َﻠَﻴ َ ِ ،وª ْ ْﻣَﻦ ْوَّىل َِ ﻣِﻦ ِْ اَﻣ ْﺮِاُﻣَّىت ً ﺷَﻴ ْﺄ ْﻓَﺮَﻓِﻖَ ﺑِﻬِﻢ ْ ﻓَﺎر ﻓُﻖ ﺑªِ . 296 O All a h , be harsh on the ruler who governs the affairs of my followers harshly and be kind to the ruler who treats my people kindly. Heartfelt Supplication at the Journey to Ta ’if Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin Ja‘far ra relates that after the death of Hadrat Ab u Ta lib, the Holy Prophet sa went to Ta ’if with the message of Islam. People of Ta ’if did not accept this message. The Holy Prophet sa offered two rak‘ a t of s al a t under the shade of a tree and with deep anguish in his heart he supplicated his Master in these words: ْ ْ اَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢ َّ اِﻟَﻴ ْ ک َ اَﺷ ْکُﻮ ِْ ﺿُﻌ Çَّْﻒ َ ﻗُﻮ ِْ ،و َ ﻗِﻠَّﺔ َ ﺣِﻴ ِْﻠَىت َوَﻫَﻮَاىن 2 ْ _ َ اﻟﻨَّﺎس ِ ،ﻳَﺎ َ اَر ﺣَﻢ ا ﺮ َْ ِِ ْ ِْاِىل ٰ ﻣَﻦ ﺗَ¤ِﻠُىن ؟ َّ ِْ اِىلٰ 2َﺪُوٍّ ﻳ ْﺘَﺠَﻬَّﻤُىن ْاَم ْ اِىلٰ ﻗَﺮِﻳ ﺐ ٍ ﻣَّﻠَک ﺘªَ ْ ْ اَﻣ ﺮِی ؟ ْ َّاِن ْ ﻟ ْﻢ َْﺗَکُﻦ 2َ_ََّ ﻓَﻼَ اُﺑَﺎىلِ ،5َري ْ ﺳَﺎﺧِﻄًﺎ ِْ اَنَّ 2َﺎﻓِ[َﺘَکَ اَو ْﺳَﻊُ ىل ْ اَﻋُﻮ ْ ذ ُ ﺑِﻨُﻮ ْ ر ِ وَﺟ ْ ﻬِک َ اﻟ ْ کَﺮِﻳ ْﻢ ِ اﻟَّﺬِی ْاَﺿَﺎء َ ت ﻟªَ ُ اﻟﺴَّﻤٰﻮَات ُ وَاﻻَۡر ضُ،
