PRAYERS 142 Prayer for Attaining Good and Deliverance from Evil Hadrat Anas bin M a lik ra relates this prayer of the Holy Prophet sa : ْ َْ اَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢ َّ اِىن ِّ اَﺳ ِْ ﺎَﻟُک َ ﻣِﻦ َ اخل ري ªُِّﻠL ْ ْ ،ﻣَﺎ2َﻠِﻤ ْ ﺖ ُ ﻣِﻨ ªُْ وَﻣَﺎ ﻟَﻢ 2َا ْ ْﻠَﻢ َ وَاَﻋُﻮ ذ ُ ﻣِﻦ اﻟ ªُِّﻠL ِّﺸَّﺮ ْ ْ ﻣَﺎ2َﻠِﻤ ْ ﺖُ ﻣِﻨ ﻟَﻢ ªُْ وَﻣَﺎ ا2َﻠَﻢ. 283 O All a h , I beseech You for every good thing, whether it is known to me or not. I seek refuge from every evil, whether I know it or not. Prayer for Protection against ‘Shirk’ (Associating Partners with All a h) Hadrat Ab u M u s a Ash‘ar i ra relates that the Holy Prophet sa advised us to refrain from associating partners with All a h , which is difficult to detect, as it is flimsier than the footprint of an ant. The Companions asked as to how they could avoid this sin. The Holy Prophet sa taught them this prayer: ْ ﻧَﻌُﻮ ْ اَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢَّ اِﻧَّﺎ ْذُﺑِکَ ﻣِﻦ ْاَن ْ ﻧُّﺸ ً ﺮِکَ ﺑِکَ ﺷَﻴ ْﺄ ﻧَّﻌ ﻠَﻤªُ ْ ْ وَﻧَﺴ َ ﺘَﻐ ْ ﻔِﺮُکَ ملَِﺎ ﻻ ﻧَﻌ ﻠَﻢُ. 284 O All a h , we seek Your shelter from associating partners with You knowingly. We also seek Your forgiveness in case we commit this sin unknowingly. Prayer for Deliverance from the Wrath of God Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin ‘Amr ra relates that the Holy Prophet sa used to recite this prayer: ِّْ ْاَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢ َّ اِىن ْ اَﻋُﻮ ْذُﺑِک َ ﻣِﻦ ِ زَوَال ِ ﻧِﻌ ۡﻤَﺘِک َ ،و َ حتََﻮُّل َ 2َﺎﻓِ[َﺘِک َ وَﻓُﺠ ِ ﺄ ْ ة ْ ﻧِﻘ ْ ﻤَﺘِکَ وَمجَِﻴ َ ﻊِ ﺳُﺨ ﻄِک. 285 O All a h , I seek Your shelter from the termination of Your bounties, withdrawal of Your protection,
