PRAYERS 132 O All a h , I seek refuge in You from the hardship of the trial, being in the grip of misfortune, evil destiny and ridicule of my enemies. Prayers in Times of Misery, Adversity and Agony Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin ‘Abb a s ra relates that the Holy Prophet sa used to recite these words at times of affliction: َّ ﻻ َ اِﻟªٰ َ اِﻻ ْ ا ْ ﷲ ُ اﻟ َْ ﻌَﻈِﻴ ْ ﻢ ُ احل ْ ﻠِﻴ ْ ﻢُ،ﻻ َ اِﻟªٰ َ اِﻻَّاﷲ ُ رَب ُّ اﻟ ْ ﻌَﺮ ْ ش ِ اﻟ َ ﻌَﻈِﻴ ªٰﻢِ،ﻻ َ اِﻟ َۡ ۡ اِﻻَّاﷲ ُ رَب ُّ اﻟﺴَّﻤٰﻮَات ِ و َ رَب ُّ اﻻ ْ ر ْ ض ِ ﻻ َ اِﻟªٰ َ اِﻻ َّ اﷲ ُ رَب ُّ اﻟ ِ ﻌَﺮ ْ ش َ اﻟ ْ ک ِ ﺮِﻳ ﻢ. 264 There is none worthy of worship except All a h. He is the Most High and Forbearing. There is none worthy of worship except All a h. He is the Lord of the Magnificent Throne. There is none worthy of worship except All a h , the Lord of the Heavens and the Earth. There is none worthy of worship except All a h. He is the Lord of the Benevolent Throne. Hadrat Anas bin M a lik ra relates that whenever the Holy Prophet sa suffered anguish or anxiety, he recited this supplication: ْ ﻗَﻴُّﻮ ﻳَﺎ َُّÁ َ ﻳَﺎ مُ ﺑِﺮ ْ ﺣ ﻤﺘ ْ ْ اَﺳ ُ ﺘَﻐِﻴ ﺚ. 265 O the Living and Self Sustaining Lord, in the name of Your mercy I seek Your help. Hadrat Ab u Hurairah ra relates that the Holy Prophet sa said, that whenever he faced a difficult time, angel Gabriel as came and made him say this prayer: َّ Lَﺗَﻮ ْ َْ ﻠ ﺖ ُ 2َ_ َ احل ْ ْﻰ ِّ اﻟَّﺬِی َْ ﻻ َ ميَُﻮ ْ ت ُ اَحل ْﻤۡﺪ ُ ﻟِﻠªّٰ ِ اﻟَّﺬِی ْﻟَﻢ ْﻳَﺘَّﺨِﺬ ْوَﻟَﺪًا وَّﻟَﻢ ﻳَکُﻦ ªَّْﻟ ُْ ﺷَﺮِﻳ ْ ک ٌ ىف ِ امل ْ ﻠ ْک ِ وَﻟَﻢ ﻳَکُﻦ ªَِّّْﻟ ُ وَىل ٌِ ﻣِّﻦ َ اﻟﺬُّل ِّ وَکَرب ْ ہ ًْ ﺗَک ﺒِري ا. 266 I put my trust in the Being, Who is Ever-Living and Immortal. All praise belongs to the Being,
