PRAYERS 102 َْ اﻟﺼَّﺎحلِِني. 202 O Lord, in Your name, I lie in bed and in Your name I will raise my body from it. If You decide to take possession of my soul, bestow mercy upon it and if You decide to return it, protect it, as You protect Your pious servants. Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin ‘Umar ra told someone to say this prayer at bedtime and said that he learnt it from the Holy Prophet sa. ْ ْ اَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢ َّ اَﻧ ْ ﺖ َ ﺧَﻠَﻘ ِْ ﺖ َ ﻧَﻔ ºْ ،وَاَﻧ ْﺖ َ ﺗَﻮَﻓَّﺎﻫَﺎ،ﻟَک َ ممََﺎَُﺎ وَحمَﻴَﺎﻫَﺎ، ْاِن ْ اَﺣ [َﻴ ْ ْ ﺘَﻬَﺎ ﻓَﺎﺣ ْ ﻔَﻈ ْﻬَﺎ ،وَاِن ْ اَﻣَﺘَّﻬَﺎ ﻓَﺎﻏ ﻔِﺮ ِّْ ْهلََﺎ اَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢ َّ اِىن َ اَﺳ ْ ﺎَﻟُک َ اﻟ ﻌَﺎﻓِﻴَﺔ. 203 O All a h , You have created my being and You will cause it to die. It’s life and death is in Your control. My Master, if You give me life, protect it and if You cause me to die, bestow forgiveness upon it. O All a h , I beg welfare from You. Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin ‘Umar ra relates the Holy Prophet sa used to recite this on retiring to bed: َْ ْ اَحل ّٰ ﻤ ْ ﺪُ ﻟِﻠ ªِْ ِ اﻟَّﺬِی ِْکَﻔَﺎىن ْوَ آوَاىن ِْ وَ اَﻃ ِْﻌَﻤَىن َْوَ ﺳَﻘَﺎىن ْ وَاحل ْ ﻤ َّﺪُ ﻟِﻠªِّٰ اﻟَّﺬِی ْ ﻣَﻦ 2َ_ ََّ ﻓَﺎَﻓ ْ ْﻀَﻞَ ،وَاﻟَّﺬِی ِْ اَﻋ ْﻄَﺎىن َْ ﻓَﺎَﺟ اَحل ،َﺰَل ْ َّ ﻤ ُﻞ ِّ ﺣَﺎل ٍ اَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢَّ رَبL ٰ_َ2 ِ ªّٰﺪ ُ ﻟِﻠ َْ Õ ُِّﻞL ْ ءٍ وَﻣَﻠِﻴ کªَ َْ Õ ُِّﻞL َªٰوَ اِﻟ ْ ءٍ اَﻋُﻮ ذُ ﺑِکَ ﻣِﻦَ اﻟﻨَّﺎرِ. 204 All praise belongs to All a h , Who is sufficient for me, protects me, feeds me and provides drink for me. All praise belongs to All a h , Who bestowed grace and vast beneficence upon me, Who endowed me immensely. His is the praise at all times. O All a h , Who is the Creator and the Master of everything. O the Object of Worship for all things. I seek refuge in You from the torment of the Fire.
